Relation of the stay

Stay at  Granville from  April the 26th to May the 4th 03

Origin :

  • Twinning of  Karkkila with  Granville  as well as 13 other towns of the other countries inside  UE.
  • May 2001 - Bellagio ( Italy)  First  teachers conctact   at the  Mini-Parlement of   Bellagio (Italy) between  Eeva Kaisa Nikkilä  and  Yanig L'Hostis.  Eeva  wanted an exchange between the two upper schools. Yanig L'Hostis teacher of College Malraux (younger students) , had to meet teachers from Lycée Juliot de la Morandière. Noël Fabian agreed to be part of the project..
  • Septembre 2002 - Oxelösund ( Sweden)  Eeva Kaisa Nikkilä,  at the general meeting , gave   first presentation letters to  André Gendre  

Aims and purposes :

  • Discovery of the Finland furthest northern UE country
  • Using english as language  of communication ( taught in both countries as first foreign language)

Preparation :

  • Writing exchange using personal emails.
  • Knowing more about Finland and its culture by studying documents sent by  Karkkila students.

Organisation  :

  • For Granville : Mr Noël FABIAN, professeur au Lycée de la Morandière.
  • For Karkkila  : Mrs Eeva-Kaisa Nikkifä et Mrs Eïja Suutari.

Saturday 26 April 03 

 22H14 : Arrival at Granville Station. Hosts'families take charge.

Sunday 27 April 03 

Staying in families

Monday 28 April 03

 Mt St Michel Sand crossing

  • 9.30 :  Lycee :Departure  by coach

  • 10.30 : Bec d'Andaine - Guided crossing of the sands (bring along a pair of shorts) Picnic on Tombelaine Rock.

  • 14.00 : Arrival at  Mt St Michel.

  • 15.30 : Visit of the Abbaye

  • 17.00 : Departure by coach to Granville.

  • 18.00 : Arrival at the lycee.

Tuesday 29 April 

  • 9.30 : Exchanges of topics at the Agora social Centre.
  • 12.00  : Picnic or  self  (6€)
  • 14.00 : Sporting activities ('Espace Jeunes Christian Ridel.)
  • 17.00 : Return home.

Wednesday 30 April 

Visit of  Dinan (medieval town) et de St Malo ( corsaires town)

  • 9.30 : Lycée : departure by coach.
  • 11.00 : Visit of Dinan
  • 12.30 : Picnic and  visit of St Malo.
  • 16.30 : Departure from St Malo
  • 18.00 : Arrival at the  lycée.

Thursday   the 1st  of   May   LABOUR DAY

day off . Journée dans les familles.

Friday   May  the 2nd

Sailing to Chausey island

  • 9.30 : Departure from the marina for the Finns on sailing boats (1.5hour) Departure from the pier for the French on the launch (1 hour)
  • Arrival on Chausey Islands and picnic. 
  • 16.30 : Departure from Chausey
  • 18.00 : Arrival at Granville

Saturday  May the 3rd  

Walking tour in Granville

  • 9.30 : Departure from St Paul church for an orienteering  game in town.
  • 14.00 : Guide visit of Granville by the Tourist Office.
  • 17.00 : Reception by the town councillors and Granville European Partnership at the "Salle Bazeille"
  • 18.00 : Return home

Sunday May the 4th  

  • 6.50 : Departure from Granville train Station.
